Meaning

Shame; Happy Life; Happy Marriage

Origins

Peony is the common name for approximately 33 species of flowers in the Paeonia genus, which belongs to the Ranunculaceae family. The flowers are native to Europe, Asia and North America, and are among the most popular garden flowers.

Availability and Vase Life

March through June. 5-7 days.

Care and Handling

Petals should be kept dry as they are prone to mold. Peonies are wilt sensitive, so avoid prolonged periods out of water.

Design Uses

These fragrant, massive flowers work well alone in a bouquet or mixed arrangement. The thin stems may require wiring or other support for the heavy heads. Leave room in a design for blooms to open fully.
