This flower originates in Italy where it recieved it's name between 1710-1771. It was named in the honor of a young Raimondo di Sangro prince of San Severo. The spellings of this flowers fluctuate between Sanseveria and Sanseviera do to it's alternate spelling within the Italian place name.

Care and Handling
Surround the plant with sun and do not overwater. Don't be alarmed by the natural slow growth. If keeping Sansevieria as a potted plant be sure to surround it with ample bright light.
Design Uses
Sansevieria has commonly been used in the past as flax for rope and bandages in traditional first aid. It has antiseptic properties in it's sap and it is starting to be more commonly used as an air purification instrument in people's homes.
